Nathanials first Chanukah
Nathanial had his first Chanukah this weekend and all I can say is wow. It is so different from a mommy perspective. On Friday we went to Grandma and Grandpas for dinner and Bubbie and Zadie too. On Saturday, We hosted Grandma and Grandpa and Bubbie and Zaidie for dinner. Sunday which was mommys birthday we went to a wedding where Nathanial was the bell of the ball, waving, smiling, and singing to others. In the evening we went to a Chanukah party and he was up and smiling and trying to crawl for everyone.

yes chanukah as a parent really is different then as a non-parent. Before we had Elie I didn't really care about lighting the candles or sharing the story with Gavin but this year I made sure to have enough candles and we light them every night, i am even making latkes which i never bother doing normally- oh boy has life changed forever!!!
Dina! That is so cool! I think it's true what you say about how having children can reinforce one's own traditions and values. I can't wait for us to start a family of our own (that isn't limited to canine and feline babies)!
PS. I'm so excited about you making latkes!!!! Ohhh boy...and I remember your Dad makes the best latkes ever!
Yup, holidays take on a whole different meaning with kids. I have never been religious, and my actual beleifs are no different than they ever were...but I still really enjoy the holidays now, and sharing traditions with Zoƫ!!
P.S. Happy Chanukah!
